Lacrosse update

Well, the season is underway and we have a 1-1-1 record!

I have to say that overall I am impressed with my team,
although we have a handful of new players
we also have some strong returning players that are shining.

We play a very strong team tomorrow morning,
I am very hopeful that it will just be rainy weather with no lightning!

On a second note, we will be having another open house this Sunday, and I am looking forward to see if anyone is interested in it this time around! We have kept the house super clean, and this past week gotten a majority of the vegetable and fruit gardens in around the house! Josh has Sunday off, so we will be able to hang out again, and I look forward to that!

Open House

We had an open house yesterday and after Josh and I ran around for 4 hours beforehand with last minute prepping it seems as if it wasn't worth it. We had 1 'real' interested person! We are hopeful that in the next two weeks we will get more interest in the house, and that a young family will walk in and love the house and neighborhood so we can move on to our next house!

Having said that, I believe our house is more organized and clean then it has been since before we moved in!

I start at Linder's Greenhouse tonight with the beginning of the year meeting, and I am looking forward to see the women that I work with again! I am also very interested in beginning my garden... only question is what house to start the garden at?!? Maybe both... we will have to see!

As of tonight my Spring season has officially started! Coaching Lacrosse, Working at Linder's, and the house for sale!

Happy Spring!

Yummy food!

Vegan Meals: Hits and Misses

So, as I have started a vegan diet, I have found a couple of recipes that are great, and a couple that are horrible! Josh has been awesome in trying out anything that I make... only making a negative face if totally necessary!

Miss: Radicchio Pizza with Truffle Oil

I can't figure out if it was the Radicchio or the Truffle Oil. Whatever it was, we were gagging for the rest of the night... This will never be made again in our house!
Recipe here.

Hit: Stuffed Pasta Shells

We love pasta, so this seemed like a great 'transition' meal... it was! We will make this again for sure!
Recipe here.

Overall, the last almost three weeks have been awesome for me. I really enjoy the meals and options I have been able to figure out, and I don't miss meat at all. Last night there was a commercial for chicken buckets and it just about made me vomit. I think this is the best choice I could have made for my body. I am truly happy that this came into my life.

UPDATE: MLS# 3911232!

We are selling our house!

Since Lacrosse season, my new vegan diet, and my garden job starting, we thought it would be a great time to sell the house!

We have an opportunity to buy a house very close to our current house/neighborhood, for a great price... so we thought we have to try!

The house will be placed on the market this afternoon and we are VERY excited!

More updates to come later!

LACROSSE 2010!

Lacrosse season has started!

This is my second year coaching Girls Lacrosse at CDH, and I am very excited to start with my team! Tryouts started this week and our teams will be decided next week. The girls are in great shape and are excited to be playing!

I was asked to figure out who I would place on what team... it is a very difficult task and I am just happy that I am not the one to make the final decisions!

A New Direction

I am extremely excited to start this new direction.

For the past year I have been struggling with an allergy to corn, which I didn't fully understand until about eight months ago. I have been so careful to watch almost everything that enters my body, and feeling really sad the whole time. There is a corn product in almost everything. I thought I was being healthy drinking a Gatorade, nope, there is high fructose corn syrup in it.How about a strawberry-kiwi yogurt, nope, there is corn syrup in it. The next time you are making something, drinking something, buying something, take a look at it - and I bet there is corn in it!

The other day as my Mom was watching Oprah, she found something that she thought would interest me. Alicia Silverstone was on the show to discuss her new book and the lifestyle she is now living. My Mother then bought me The Kind Diet, which is a lifestyle layout. After reading three chapters I am no longer going to eat meat. I am going to try a plant based diet which I believe my body is intended to consume.

I am going to try* to become healthier.

After reading the majority of this book, I know that too many connections were made to not try the vegan diet. I am happy to find a possible solution. I am scared to give up meat. I am paranoid that my friends and family will think I'm nuts. But the best part about this whole trip is that my Husband is behind me 100%. Will he give up meat, nope, at least not yet. But he agreed to trying any and everything I make at least once.. and if he doesn't like it he can make his own steak on the grill!

Tonight after Lacrosse practice, and after stopping to check in on my Mom, I plan on going to Whole Foods and try a new meal!

Wish me luck!

*I might fail... who knows if this is the right option before I really start it?!
