English Background

As I am a new teacher there are a lot of applications that need to be sent out. Not only for future teaching positions, but also for summer work. As many of these applications are hand-written, it is essential to but your best foot forward.

This is my problem: I can't spell.

Now, I have a B.A. in English Literature, and a teaching license in 5-12 Communication Arts & Literature. You would think I would be a great speller with a wonderfully large vocabulary. I do not. I believe it is because of Word processing. I am not saying it isn't my fault that I can't spell, but I think that because I have always had an 'auto-check spelling' application, I didn't find it necessary to learn how to spell some words.

"You know you can fix that" (my Mom once said)

I realize that if I really, really wanted to fix my spelling habits, I could. However, just like students today don't have to memorize their friends phone numbers (Thank you very much cell phone contact lists) I don't think I should have to take the time to memorize the spelling of certain random words.

My solution: White Out

I have found that on written documents white out is very essential. I know it doesn't look the best, but at least the people viewing it can see that I saw my mistake and took the time to correct it. Please see that I took my time to correct it and call me for an interview. I could really use the 9.00/hour job over the summer.

Now this is what I am talking about! Bring on the misspellings!
